Galaxy S26 Ultra: Privacy Display woke up the snooper in me

When I first held the Galaxy S26 Ultra, I enabled the Screen Saver, feeling like I was securing my privacy. I thought it was a useful tool that would protect me from any prying eyes. By enabling this feature, I felt more secure, although I didn't give it much thought. It seems simple, but its consequences are more significant than I initially estimated.

One day, however, I was in an elevator when someone got in and stood across from me. As he pulled out his phone, I suddenly realized that I could see everything on his screen without even trying. This incident made me reconsider the importance of a Screen Protector.

What I realized is that Screen Protector not only protects me from those around me, but also others from the information that unsuspecting people might find. Innocently from the observer's perspective, simply watching someone else's screen can hide a range of sensitive information that you would never want to be made public.

For days, I've been focused on how Privacy View protects me, without considering the bigger picture. When you're in public places, with so many people looking at each other's screens, this is more common than we think. This leads us to analogies: almost every day, on the subway, on the bus, or while waiting in line, we read other people's screens, unintentionally or not. It's become almost natural, and until recently, I hadn't even noticed it.

I don't dispute the usefulness of Privacy View. It's a tool that touches our everyday lives without being disruptive. I realized how important it is to have tools that guide us to respect the privacy of others—and perhaps we should all be more careful about how we use our devices in public.
